November 05, 2008

The First International ICST Conference on Complex Systems: Theory and Applications (COMPLEX 2009) has closed its paper submission period with 316 submitted papers for the technical sessions of the main conference and the co-located workshops. COMPLEX 2009 will be held on February 23-25, 2009 in Shanghai, China at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology. The conference is technically supported CREATE-NET, the Asia-Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics (APCTP) and the Shanghai Academy of Systems Science (SASS).

COMPLEX 2009 will host six international workshops in the fields of casualty on complex systems (COMPLEX-CCS 2009), complex engineering networks (COMPLEX-EN 2009), complexity theory of art and music (COART 2009), job and service network in complex systems (JOSED 2009), modeling and analysis of human dynamics (MANDYN 2009) and social physics and its applications (SPA 2009). The conference is also featuring a track of invited speakers as well as track for industry talks.

The keynote and plenary sessions will be delivered by Dr. Albert-Laszlo BARABASI from Northeastern University in the USA, Dr. Lei GUO from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Dr. Deyi LI from the National Natural Science Foundation of China and Alessandro VESPIGNANI from Indiana University in the USA. The organizational process of the conference is lead by Dr. Eugene STANLEY from Boston University and Dr. Gaoxi XIAO from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.
