ICST's Science Rewards Program to be opened at ICT 2008
November 10, 2008Along with a series of internet based publications, social-networking and collaboration tools, ICST will also be launching it official Membership Program and the supporting Science Rewards Program at the ICT 2008 Event on November 25-27, 2008 in Lyon, France. At the featured ICST information booth at ICT 2008, Society members will have the opportunity to sign up for the diverse tools and learn more about their operating principles and the Web 2.0 inspired mechanisms propelling them. In addition, visitors will be able to join ICST's different membership categories and immediately start acquiring benefits through the Science Rewards Program.
ICST's Science Rewards Program has been designed to incentivize member participation and member recognition in Society events and activities. The program integrates two rewarding mechanisms; one that acknowledges certain types of member contributions (reviewing papers, organizing conferences, etc.) and one that operates on a royalty based system rewarding authors of articles, papers, and multimedia content every time their published work is downloaded by another Society member. The points Society members collect in the Science Rewards Program can be applied towards accessing ICST services and products at a discounted or a complementary basis.
ICT 2008 is the largest ICT research, policy and industry event in Europe consisting of a trade show and exhibition and a series of conferences and co-located workshops. The event is organized under the direct auspices of the European Commission and features high-profile incited speakers, such as Ms. Viviane REDING, European Commissioner for Information Society and Media, Mr. Ben Verwaayen, Chief Executive Officer of Alcatel-Lucent or Ms. Christine Lagarde, Minister of Economy and Industry Affairs of France. The ICT 2008 Event will host hundreds of exhibitors and is expected to attract over 10000 visitors.
