ICST's SIMUTOOLS 2008 attracts 150 experts in the field of simulation and modeling
March 20, 2008The First International Conference on Simulation Tools and Techniques for Communications, Networks and Systems (SIMUTOOLS 2008) took place on March 3-7 2008, in Marseilles, France. The five day conference included a series of technical sessions, three workshops, a tutorial on the use of NS-3 simulator and a business oriented side-event called SimulationWorks that accommodated submitted papers focused on industrial applications. The conference attracted a crowd of 150 experts coming from all general areas of simulation an modeling, such as tools, applications and methodology/simulation art.
SIMUTOOLS 2008 was technically co-sponsored by Create-Net, IEEE France Section, INRIA and SIGSIM. Keynote speakers at the conference included Dr. Bernard P. ZEIGLER, President of the Society for Modeling and Simulation International and Richard M. Fujimoto from the College of Computing at the Georgia Institute of Technology. The three workshops of the event covered highly specialized sub-areas of simulation and modeling, such as evaluation of quality of service, Petri Nets tools and applications, OmNet ++ applications and tools net-centric solutions. The technical sessions of the conference were broadcasted live on the internet and individual presentations will be made available for post-conference on-demand downloading as well.
The next edition of SIMUTOOLS will be organized on March 3-7 2008 in Rome, Italy. The conference is planned to be organized in parallel with one of ICST's Business-Industry-Technology Meetings (BITMEETS), a business-to-business symposium bringing together companies and regulatory bodies in the areas of simulation and modeling applications. As part of this initiative, the technical conference will be accompanied by an exhibit and trade show providing an opportunity for private enterprises to showcase their products and services.
