Leading experts of nano-networking and communication gathered at NANONETS 2008
October 10, 2008Third International ICST Conference on Nano-Networks (NANO-NETS 2008) was held on September 14-16, 2008 in Boston, MA, USA. The conference featured a single track program including technical sessions with full scientific papers and short work-in-progress presentations. In addition, a tutorial on the properties and applications of carbon nanotubes, a panel discussion on advanced micro/nano-electronic technologies used to establish neuromorphic systems and a workshop on nano self-organization and swarm robotics were also incorporated in the conference program.
The three keynote sessions of the conference were delivered by Dr. Neil Gershenfeld, Director of the Center for Bits and Atoms at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the USA, Dr. Sylvian MARTEL, Director of the NanoRobotics Laboratory at the Polytechnique Montryal in Canada and Dr. Tasuya SUDA, Professor at the School of Information and Computer Science of the University of California in Irvine, CA, USA. Technical sponsors supporting the conference included the European Nanoelectronics Initiative Advisory Council, the American Physical Society and ACM Special Interest Groups ARCH, MICRO and DA.
The Fourth International ICST Conference on Nano-Networks (NANO-NETS 2009) is planned to be held on October 18-20, 2008 in Lausanne, Switzerland. The organizing process of the conference will be lead by DR. Alexandre Schmid from the Microelectronic Systems Laboratory of EPFL in Switzerland, and coordinated among experts from MIT, University of Albany, University of Washington, Carnegie Mellon University, General Electric and Motorola.
