Ex-NSF Assistant Director accepts to serve as General Chair for ICST's IMMERSCOM 2009

Dr. Ruzena BAJCSY is to serve as the General Chair of the Second International Conference on Immersive Telecommunications (IMMERSCOM 2009). Dr. Ruzena BAJCSY is Director of the Center for Information Technology Research in the Interest of the Society (CITRIS) at the University of California at Berkeley. Previously she has worked as Assistant Director of the Computer Information Science and Engineering Directorate (CISE) at the National Science Foundation (NSF).

The previous edition of IMMERSCOM took place in Verona, Italy and attracted a wide circle of experts from the areas of networking solutions, applications and technologies for immersive environments The conference was supported by Microsoft Research and technically co-sponsored by Create-Net and the European Association for Signal Processing (EURASIP). Keynote presentations were delivered by Dr. Harlyn BAKER from Hewlett-Packard Laboratories and Prof. Marc CAVAZZA from the University of Teesside in U.K

IMMERSCOM 2009 will be hosted by UCLA Berkeley and will remain focused on immersive telecommunications. The conference will be organized in parallel with one of ICST's Business-Industry-Technology Meetings (BITMEETS), a business-to-business symposium bringing together companies and regulatory bodies in the areas of intelligent technologies and immersive environments in entertainment, education and professional training. As part of this initiative, the technical conference will be accompanied by a trade show providing an opportunity for private enterprises to showcase their products and services.
