Student Councils
ICST Students is a branch of ICST organized for and managed by students, recent graduates, and young researchers. Within the Studentsí branch are Student Councils, which are similar to the Technology and Business Councils (TABs), the central operational units of ICST. Each Student Council anchors ICST members in an important technical area, providing information, coordination, and means of collaboration for its members.
One unique feature of the Student Councils is their extreme focus on the content and activities relevant for students and young researchers. As a result, while there are no specific restrictions on the type of membership ICST student members tend to represent the majority of students in Student Councils.
Each Student Council is coordinated by officers appointed to their positions by the Council Chair or Vice Chair. Officer positions are opened according to council coordination requirements and unique activities carried out by the councils.
The organization of each Student Council and its activities are devoted to organization and coordination of ICST student members in a specific technical area. To this aim, the Student Council includes a set of tools (in the form of gadgets) enabling collaboration, organization, and the engagement of information exchange between its members. These tools can vary between Student Councils depending on the different focuses and particular needs of each council.
On a global scale, Student Councils are organized into Divisions which correspond to larger "thematic" units. The Division Director and Division Officers organize and coordinate Student Councils. This includes determining proper division of councils, support of relationships between these councils, as well as assisting with the cooperation of Student Councils within other Student Council Divisions.
Coordination between divisions is managed by the Board of Directors appointed by the General Chair and are selected by the Division Directors. The Board of Directors focuses on the general organizational structure of Student Divisions, as well as coordination with other ICST branches such as TAB Councils and TEC Councils, and provides support for industry relations.
