Scientific Council
The ICST Scientific Council is made up of a cross-section of scientists, administrators, and decision makers from government, academia, and industry, representing diverse IT fields and geographical areas. The Council provides guidance to the Institute's ongoing activities, and new initiatives, and acts as a gateway to the IT community and the Society at large. The Council complements and enhances the knowledge represented in the various ICST Committees and Technical Councils by providing up-to-date information on the state of the field, contributing to policy-informing functions, and by assisting in the Institute's response to ongoing and new developments in the technical areas of its activities. The Council may further contribute to operation matters through ad hoc subcommittees by carrying out studies and providing advice to various operational and strategic activities of the Institute as needed.
The Scientific Council helps realize the objectives of Institute members that engage information technologies in the service of society and who increase the efficiency of technology to benefit the society worldwide.
These objectives include:
- Promoting growth and advancement of IT technologies.
- Promoting education and social benefits of IT technologies.
- Developing IT technologies for improving information exchange.
- Maximizing the support of and participation of members in the advancement of science.
- Supporting effective transition of ideas to industry through technology transfer.
