Biography
Dr. Abou El-Nasr is an assistant professor in the Computer Engineering Department, College of Engineering at the Arab Academy for Science and Technology (AAST) - Alexandria, Egypt. He is also affiliated with Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University where he works as an adjunct professor in the Bradely Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering -VTMENA program.
Dr. Abou El-Nasr earned both his Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Electrical and Computer Engineering in March 2003 and December 1999 respectively, from Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta GA. He joined the faculty at the Arab Academy for Science and Technology in June 2003 where his research group is currently working on projects related to UWB systems, physical layer issues in wireless networks, embedded systems design and FPGA implementation of face detection and recognition algorithms as well intrusion detection systems.
Dr. Abou El-Nasr received the CC department distinction award in 2004 at AAST, and lately won the third place in the wireless design contest that was held by Lantronix at the Embedded system Design conference CA. He is a member of IEEE, IEEE communications and computer societies and a member of ACM.
